Important Reminder: Water Guns Prohibited on Campus

Posted Date: 4/23/24 (3:34 PM)

Sheldon Students and Families,

I am reaching out to address a matter of concern that has recently come to our attention at Sheldon High School.

In the past few days, there have been instances of water guns being brought onto campus. It's important to emphasize that water guns are not permitted on campus due to the disruptions they cause to the educational environment and the safety risks they pose to our students.

Maintaining a focused and conducive learning environment is paramount to us. We want all students to be able to concentrate on their coursework without any distractions. Unfortunately, the presence of water guns has led to some students feeling harassed and uncomfortable, which is not conducive to a positive learning environment.

Additionally, the issue of safety cannot be overstated. While some water guns may not resemble real firearms, others bear a striking resemblance to actual guns. Given the importance we place on the safety of our students, we cannot allow anything on campus that even remotely resembles a firearm.

I want to express my sincere appreciation for your cooperation in this matter. Please be reminded that water guns, along with any other type of gun, are strictly prohibited on the premises of Sheldon High School. By adhering to this policy, we can ensure the safety and well-being of all members of our school community.

Respectfully,

Mike Ingman
