Sheldon High School is currently not open to the public. We have staff in the building Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, checking both email and phone lines to help answer any questions. You can reach our main office at 541-790-6600.
GRADUATION VIDEO PLANNING:
SENIORS! EnvisionPro has reached out to you via
your 4J email with directions to access your
student portal account for to participate in the
“2021 Graduation Commencement” video. If you
did not receive an email, please contact Kristen
Natt in the front office.
Please be aware that Eugene IHS seniors will
have TWO graduation emails from EnvisionPro to
respond to as they are part of two graduation
ceremonies. Please pay attention to which
graduation email you are looking at and make
sure to submit information to both.
All photos submitted for the video MUST be a
.jpg file with the student’s name properly spelled
for the file name. Make sure the lighting is set in
front of you, not from behind, to keep the focus
on YOU!
The upload portal closes on Monday, May 10.
WORK STUDY STUDENTS:
Current sophomores and juniors interested in
Work Study positions for next fall, please send a
current resume with references, your availability
for two periods, a list of forecasted classes and 2
Sheldon staff member letters of
recommendation to Shiloh Jackson in the Career
Center at jackson_s@4j.lane.edu. Work Study
consists of paid positions at Sheldon and other
Sheldon region schools. Students do not forecast
for Work Study, rather there is an interview and
hiring process. All interested students are
encouraged to apply.
CLASS OF 2021 CHECKLIST:
Parents that missed the Senior parent meeting on Tuesday, April 6 can find a recording of the meeting here.
Mark your calendar for Senior Distribution Day
on Thursday, May 20. Items that will be available
are awards, senior yard signs, cap and gown, and
any announcements or senior items not picked
up, yet. There is an opportunity to have a photo
taken and to sign the senior shield.

Safe Oregon: www.safeoregon.com – a program
created for Oregon students, parents, school
staff, community members and law enforcement
officers to report and respond to student safety
threats. (Safe Oregon app available in the App
store)
Lines for Life: www.linesforlife.org – a regional
non-profit dedicated to preventing substance
abuse and suicide. Offers help and hope to
individuals and communities, and promotes
mental health for all. Addresses a spectrum of
needs that include intervention, prevention, and
advocacy. Educates, trains, and advocates to
prevent issues of substance abuse, mental illness,
and thoughts of suicide from reaching crisis
levels. Available 24/7/365 to intervene with
personalized help when a crisis arises or support
is needed.

LANE COUNTY VACCINATIONS:
All persons age 16+ are eligible for a COVID-19
vaccine in Oregon. The Oregon Health Authority
has released eligibility for all persons ages 16 and
older. Actual distribution is based on vaccine

VACCINE CLINIC – 16+
Eugene School District 4J will hold a COVID-19
vaccine clinic for 4J students on Wednesday, May
12. Vaccines are currently available for youth age
16 and up. The vaccine clinic will be at South
Eugene High School and shuttle buses will be
provided from other 4J high schools. 4J
healthcare partner Cascade Health will give the
shots, and will provide another clinic for the
second vaccine dose a few weeks later.

Transportation: Students may go directly to the
clinic site, or take a shuttle bus from their high
school at noon.
HOW DO YOU FEEL:
To help everyone at school stay healthy, students
and staff need to be healthy when they come to
school. If your student is feeling unwell, or if they
or anyone in their home has primary symptoms
of COVID-19 or other communicable diseases,
they need to stay at home.
Symptoms that should keep a student home:
• Fever of 100 or higher
• Chills, cough, shortness of breath
• Difficulty breathing
• New loss of taste or smell
• Diarrhea or vomiting
FREE EUGENE LIBRARY CARDS:
All students in 4J schools can get a Eugene Public
Library card for free—whether or not they live
within the Eugene city limits. A Eugene Public
Library card offers students opportunities to
enhance reading skills, research school projects,
build study skills, work with live online tutors,
and so much more. It also offers nearly limitless
print and online opportunities to read for
pleasure and enjoy movies, music, magazines,
and more. Families may apply for a library card
for their student by mail, by phone, or in person –Information Here
UO SAIL:
Make college your reality: Check out the Summer
Academy to Inspire Learning (SAIL) program at
the University of Oregon! SAIL offers FREE one week academic summer programs virtually and
on the University of Oregon campus. SAIL invites
rising freshmen through seniors, including 2021
graduates, who meet eligibility requirements, to
apply. Choose from a wide variety of subject
areas taught by distinguished University of
Oregon faculty volunteers through fun social and
interactive activities. SAIL is committed to
increasing student enrollment and success in
college – we offer sessions on the college
admissions process, scholarships, and how to
navigate financial aid. Experience what college

LTD BUS SERVICE FOR STUDENTS:
Students ride transit for free!
Lane Transit District (LTD) will continue allowing
students to ride without a bus pass until
September. For now, all students need to do to
ride free is tell the driver that they are a 4J
student. When LTD resumes student fare
collection, students can still ride for free, but
only if they get a pass from their school. We will
share more information about how to get a free
pass as we near September. Please

El distrito de tránsito de Lane (LTD) continuará a
permitir que los estudiantes puedan usar el bus
sin su pase hasta el mes de septiembre. Por
ahora, lo único que tienen que hacer los
estudiantes para obtener su pase es notificar al
conductor del bus que son estudiantes de 4J.
Cuando el LTD reinicia la colección de tarifas
estudiantiles, los estudiantes pueden seguir

MEAL BOX AVAILABILITY:
Eugene School District 4J will offer free grab-andgo meal boxes for 4J students and other youth up
to age 18 every Wednesday. No application or
pre-registration is required. Home delivery will
no longer be provided. There are no income
requirements and families can pick up meals at
any location. Vegetarian, made-without-gluten,
and soy milk options are available.
